About Host Great Meets and The Founder

People who plan and run swim meets and other youth activities are terrific! So are those who help. Very few are paid what they are worth, yet each helps. Although thousands swim competitively, information and tools to help people host swim meets are not readily available. As a result, people spend too much time and effort “reinventing the wheel.”

There has to be a better way, right?

There is.  People can share ideas and resources and help each other. Host Great Meets brings people and needed resources together.

Mission

Deliver useful resources that are quick and easy for people to get, use, and share.

Work with Volunteers, Develop Leadership and Team Success

Many of the tips shared here work at other events and activities too, not just swim meets. The “Get Help” and “Team Success” sections on the menu feature many broad-based posts. The “Get Help” area offers practical tips for those working with volunteers at swim meets and beyond. The “Team Success” part features posts that help people use meets and other events to increase personal leadership and team unity. The team you build may be an organized sports team or another group of people.

About Host Great Meets Founder

Cathy Vaughan started Host Great Meets in August 2016. She spent the previous year as meet director of the 2016 Western Zone Age Group Championships.  This USA Swimming meet was held in Kearns, Utah. Afterward, some asked for her meet hosting resources. Upon emerging from the post-meet exhaustion haze, she decided it was time to act on her long-held dream of creating a website for swim meet people. That’s how HostGreatMeets.com came to be.

Cathy is a married mom with five kids and three grandchildren who values keeping kids, and others, safe and happily engaged in good activities. She’s a volunteer swim official who also serves in her community and church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Favorites include: Comfy shoes, being a grandma, learning, mentoring, organizing, being outside (in good weather that is), and travel. Her greatest work and joy? Family.
